Used 3/4" Pine laminate board for main section with 1/4" MDF for top piece. Cut using 2 flute .125 downcut bit with a feed rate of 120 ipm at a depth of .06 per pass. Since I was using a downcut bit, I had to follow the bit around on some parts so the grove wouldn’t clog with sawdust. Don’t forget to use a sacrificial board under you pieces so you don’t mess up your work area. I just used 3M 77 spray adhesive for the MDF top piece. It works very well and leaves almost no residue on board. (not like doubles side tape) and doesn’t clog your bits either. Just don’t use too much or you won’t get the pieces separated. My tray measures 9″ × 12″, but you can scale it to any size you want in Easel.
Light sanding of parts and applied lacquer sanding sealer to all materials. Primed the top MDF part and sprayed green color coat. Wanted a little sparkle so I also sprayed a fine gold glitter in a rattle can I never used (had laying around for a few years) and sprayed the top piece. Glued the two part together with wood glue and finish coated with a gloss clear lacquer. The recessed /raised center hole is sized to fit a 2" diameter candle, or as I used, a led lighted candle.
