Preparing the Easel files

With the latest Easel enhancements, all of the different operations are contained in different "work pieces".

Work piece one: contains the tool path to cut the texture on the surface of the deathstar. Work piece two: contains the tool path to cut out some of the unfinished sections of the deathstar. Work piece three: contains the tool path to cut out the deeper section of the unfinished deathstar and the outline. Work piece four: contains the tool path to cut the spherical scoop on the face of the deathstar. (Using an external gcode sender is no longer required).

Estimated time: 30 minutes

Jean-Baptiste MUTIN

Hello. Which software do you use to control x-carve? Thanks.

At the time i made this trivet i used two programs: 1) Easel for the flat (2D) milling and 2) Meshcam to generate the 3D path for the dish and Universal GCode Sender to control the cnc.

Philip Storm

I tried to open in easel and it says project not publicly shared.

Fernando Romero

Philip, I've created a new Easel file now that the program has better capabilities and attached that to the project. Let me know if it works.

John Smith

Fernando, ho do I get the Easel File? I don't see it in the zip file and the easel project link does not open.

John Smith · December 16, 2018

John Horgan

I only see the file for the scoop, don't see the other three

Fernando Romero

I just added a zip file that contains all workpieces

I also just saw that there is a "share option" on the file menu and I selected to make the easel project public. I hope it works now.

Gerald Runion

Any idea how I would scale all workpieces such that I could cut this out of a 6.5"x6.5" piece of wood other than the 9x9 used here?

Gerald Runion · January 11, 2020

Fernando Romero

The "flat" geometry you can scale by selecting all (CTRL+A) and then going to the size tool, locking the proportions and entering a new dimension of 6.5" The "Scoop" gcode, I generated outside of easel. I can scale it down later tonight and place it on the project file.

Gerald Runion

thank you

Charles Daily

Fernando, thanks for this. A couple of questions 1. Why multiple workspaces, seems like the same bit used for all carves? 2. Why on the scoop is it not starting at 0/0?
