1

Import image into Easel

Find a black and white clipart image and use Easel to import it into a new project.

2

Set the depth

By default Easel wants to cut all the way through your material. I like to set the depth for my pictures to .07 in.

3

Carve

Carve out your image.

4

Clear coat

I like to give the piece a coat of spray on poly before I paint. This closes up the pores and prevents the paint from bleeding in too deep.

5

Paint

I like to give the pieces 2 to 3 light coats of spray paint making sure to fill in all the nooks and crannies. It’s best if you can let it dry overnight but try to wait at least an hour before the next step.

6

Sand

I then sand the piece with 100 grit sandpaper to remove all the paint not in the carved out sections.

7

Clear Coat

Once it has been fully sanded I like to give the piece 4 to 5 coats of a satin spray polyurethane, sanding between each coat.
