Prepare the puzzle piece in Easel

I did a quick google search and found a puzzle piece already in .svg format.
https://www.svgrepo.com/svg/55656/puzzle

I imported it into Easel, removed the bottom cutout, and resized it to my wood dimensions.
I then added my text and made 2 copies.
The first copy was for the text to be carved with a 60° V-Bit.
The second copy was to cut out the puzzle shape using a 1/8" 2 flute bit.

2

Carve the text

25 minutes

I mounted the wood to my X-Carve and carved the text first with the 60° V-Bit.

3

Cut out the puzzle piece

25 minutes

I then changed the bit over to the 1/8" 2 flute bit and cut out the puzzle piece.
It didn’t quite cut all the way through the material so I cleaned it up with a flush trim saw and a razor knife.

4

Paint the text

10 minutes

I masked off the text to lessen the sanding time and then gave it a good coat of black spray paint.

I let that dry for about 20 minutes and then removed the tape.

5

Sand off the excess paint

30 minutes

I let the spray paint dry over night and then sanded off the excess with 120 grit sandpaper on my orbital sander.
