I used Illustrator to create a 1/8" notch halfway into the star design. This allows the two pieces to slide into each other since the wood is 1/8".

Use MakerCAM to generate toolpaths
The free online toolpath generation site MakerCAM is perfect for easily generating simple profile and pocket paths. For this design, all I needed was a simple outside profile down to the material height, which is 1/8"

I milled these on a Shapeoko 2. I made these shapes one at a time, although it would be quicker to create two shapes in MakerCAM. It only took 3 minutes to cut out each star!
