General Information

Celebrate the newlyweds with a Harry Potter “Always” sign! I customized this sign for my best friend and her new husband, but you can change the text for your own gift. V-bits give the delicate text and snitch design an elegant finish.

(Optional) Paint Wood

60 minutes

I painted this soft maple with a white paint so the text would really pop. I waited an hour for the wood to dry before carving. Check the dry time instructions for your paint to make sure your carving surface is clean before carving.

Customize, Insert V-bit, and Carve!

20 minutes

Easel Pro makes carving this project super easy.

Customize the Easel Pro file with whatever names you’d like to carve. Insert a 90 degree (or 60 degree) v-bit into your X-Carve or Carvey. Hit “Carve” and watch the magic happen!

This is beautiful! Just curious how you you painted the carved parts without getting any on the white painted top? Or is it a stain? Thanks for your help!

@nelliebellie - I painted white on the wood before carving. The wood was exposed when the bit carved through the white paint. Soft Maple is a light wood, but the v-bit still went deep enough to create a shadow that makes it look darker.

@nelliebellie you could also use a darker wood (like walnut) to get a darker look on the text. You can also use a paint mask if you want the letters to be painted and the wood to be natural.
